Join Us – Help Raise Money for Charity and Support Your Local Community

Our Mission: A life time journey in
Freemasonry is about supporting your
local community and charities raising
funds through membership

If you have an interest in joining Freemasonry, you have taken your first step in the right direction. As the home of Freemasonry is in the United Kingdom, we have over 200,000 masonic members in nearly 8000 Lodge and Chapters around the country. Each Lodge or Chapter raises money at a local level, giving out of our own pockets, sharing this with local charities, regional charities, and national charities.

As Freemasons in the UK, we give to charity many millions of pounds every year.

If this is aligned with you're personality and you want to find the answer to a common question what are masons and who are masons, read on, explore this website. Explore the path and journey you can see each our young masons are on. This is at the heart of 'whats a masonic lodge', and why we are all brothers to each other.

Freemasonry can be such a diverse interest and has the potential for a lifelong affair that gives back continually. The beauty of how Freemasonry works is you only need to commit what you want or can, in time and effort. Tasks and roles are never forced upon you, Freemasonry will never ask you to place family, work or important interests ahead of what you want to get out of Freemasonry and how you can help Freemasonry in return.

A major part of your Masonic journey, you will find that nearly every event, meeting and coming together of your fellow brethren generates funds for charity, both in the local community and larger charitable concerns.

Did you realise that Freemasons in the United Kingdom raised over £33 Million for charity last year? This is at the heart of what we do.

Finding a Lodge to join is normally about the location and meeting the existing members to help give you that understanding of who, where and when as lodges meet on different days, different locations, and with different goals or aims. If you are interested in joining Freemasonry, the Royal Hanover Lodge would love to help you start that journey.

We have a strange saying of 'Ask one to be one' or ' To be one, ask one', which actually translates to that a Freemason will traditional never ask you to join, but we happily talk about the many great aspects of Freemasonry, but will leave it up to you to make that first step.

If you live in Middlesex (England) or in a neighbouring county like Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire or West London Borough and you are genuinely interested in joining Freemasonry, you should, to avoid any disappointment later, make yourself aware of the membership requirements below. Of course, if you already know any Freemasons then they too should be able to advise you.

Membership Requirements

Anyone offering himself as a candidate should be 21 years of age or over and of good repute, and should be entirely assured in his own mind:

  1. that he sincerely seeks intellectual and moral improvement for himself and others.
  2. that he has a belief in a supreme being (God as you understand him).
  3. that he is able to afford the necessary expenditure without detriment to himself or his connections. Financial ability to pay lodge subscriptions and contributions to charity, without having an adverse impact on his family. (normal Royal Hanover Lodge fees are £240 per year)
  4. that he is willing and able to devote part of his time, his means and his efforts, to the promotion of the aims of our ancient Institution. To make a commitment to attend Lodge meetings, rehearsals, socials and events.
  5. that he will never seek commercial, social or pecuniary advantage from his membership.

If you work or live inside the province of Middlesex (England) or a neighboring county like Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire or West London Borough then you can still inquire about joining if you are particularly interested in joining Royal Hanover Lodge.

If you are comfortable with these requirements and would like to request joining Royal Hanover Lodge, please pop your details in the form on this page.

The Royal Hanover lodge is a progressive and a growing lodge that has a well-recognised reputation for some of the best work in Middlesex. This makes it an ideal first choice to start freemasonry.

It is important to know that Freemasonry is a voluntary, fraternal organisation, composed of men of good will, good character and good reputation, who believe in an almighty creator and practice the spirit of universal brotherhood to man.

Obviously getting to know us, and importantly, us getting to know you is a crucial part of what comes next.

At this stage, you obviously have been doing your research and have many questions. Typically we get to know each applicant on a social level first.

As we meet every Tuesday evening at Cole Court for "Lodge of Instruction" we have found this an ideal opportunity to get to know each other. This is also a good way for you to ask any questions you may have.
