Not what you would imagine,
Masons playing sports but why not.
The image of elderly Men with their cases is only a small factor in the makeup of a freemason.
The age group range from 21 years into infinity, so what enables these age groups to get on so well together, well besides their enjoyment in the Masonic organisation other mutual interests bring groups together enabling a wider social environment.
The main one of these being Sport just like Masonry it is a good leveller in society, allowing interaction with those who still participate and those who have stories to tell.
In the Province of Middlesex it is very evident that Sport does offer Masons and their families and friends this opportunity with at present seven sections including Football, Golf, Fishing, Badminton,Cricket,Cycling and sailing.
It brings the opportunity through these groups for many Charity organisations to benefit as members organise charity events which like the Fishing section holds interactive fishing trips for disabled and disadvantaged children.
Also, a Mason cycled from Gibraltar to Berkshire and raised over £130,000 for Charity.

Each Lodge will have their own particular members who are interested in different Sports and like the Royal Hanover Lodge these groups include Football , Golf and fishing but the Lodge is mainly known for its avid support of Twickenham Rugby both national and international, with many of its members being present or past players and supporters of the game. Indeed being a Twickenham Lodge it is appropriate that we have members who are associated with Twickenham Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Harlequins Rugby Club either long term members or in particular members who have worked or still work as stewards at both these venues.

With the Rugby World Cup due to commence in September, I am sure that the topic of conversation will be the progress of England especially when we get to the final.
But either as a Mason or Twickenham Rugby supporter as the saying goes we are a Band of Brothers
